The story
It started with a bag of kibble with a wolf on it. The packaging promised 'real meat' and 'optimal nutrition'. Three years later, we flipped the bag and found the first ingredient was rice and the third was wheat. The wolf did not eat wheat.
We looked for a Nutri-Score for pet food. It didn't exist. The industry, controlled 70% by Mars and Nestle, had blocked it. So we built it.
PetFoodRate was born from the frustration of a pet owner who just wanted to know what was in the bag. Not marketing. Not regulatory jargon. The truth, in one letter from A to E.

How we fund the site
The site is free for all users. We receive an affiliate commission when someone clicks a link to Chewy, Zooplus, Amazon, or another partner marketplace. That commission never touches the scoring. Brands cannot negotiate a grade upgrade.
Pet food is the third largest household expense for pet owners. It is also the food you give to someone who cannot read the label, cannot complain, and will eat the same bag for months until you decide to change. If we can help one bowl go from D to A, the whole project pays for itself.
